LiUNA Local 183 Headquarters Named Finalist for Development of the Year at 2025 NAIOP REX Awards

We’re honoured to announce that the LiUNA Local 183 Headquarters project has been named a finalist for Development of the Year at the prestigious 2025 NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter REX Awards – a celebration of excellence in commercial real estate development.

Located at 200 Labourers Way in Vaughan, Ontario, this landmark facility serves as the central hub for the largest construction local union in North America. The project features a six-storey tower connected to a three-storey wing, all anchored by a spacious assembly hall. Designed with both functionality and sustainability in mind, the headquarters includes offices, medical and pharmacy services, financial institutions, training classrooms, and recreational amenities for union members

One of the project’s most innovative features is its 7,000-square-metre green roof, sloped at 50 degrees and capable of managing up to 3.3 million litres of stormwater. Constructed using recycled materials and planted with 6,000 native perennials, the roof exemplifies SKYGRiD’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The project has also achieved LEED Silver certification, recognizing its focus on stormwater retention, heat island reduction, and sustainable design

This recognition is a testament to the dedication, innovation, and collaboration of the entire SKYGRiD team. We’re proud to have partnered with LiUNA Local 183, Diamond Schmitt, Smith + Andersen, RJC, and other industry leaders to bring this transformative project to life.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this achievement possible.
